Thank you

Hello everyone,

From the blessings that you have given, my wife is now home and quickly recovering. Although she has to undergo physical therapy to be able to walk again, we are thankful she is still with us. In behalf of my wife, I thank you all.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude for your modest act of helping our family during our difficult times.

Thank you all for all that you have done.
Hard times are now turned into times of pride.
All this we managed with you by our side,
Nor could we otherwise this course have run.
Kindness isn't tendered on demand:
You gave with love, not out of duty.
Our days are daily burnished by that beauty.
Upon your love we three now proudly stand.

May our good Lord shower upon you His Blessings forever.

Thank you so much.

5-11

Don’t get me wrong, this is not just another 24-hr. convenient store. Neither is it another terrorist attack date. Its 5 months and 11 days. Yes, exactly 5 months and 11 days are the days we spent in the hospital. After a couple of negotiations about the bill, my wife Neddie is finally out the hospital. We succeeded in rescuing my wife. She’s finally free. I couldn’t have done this without the help of people with kind hearts. I’m referring to those people who have prayed, sympathized, and donated for the wellness of my beloved.

Ironically, I’m beginning to think that the numbers 5 and 11 is important to my life. My wife’s birthday is May 11 (5-11, wow!), my daughter Nia’s birthday is September 11 (another 11, hehe), I learned about the accident at 11 am of February 13, and my birthday is August 2 (think of 2 at 1 and 1, hehe). Its funny.

My sincerest gratitude to the following: Ayala Corporation; Affinity Express (Manila, Pune, US); Mother Goose Special Science HS Batch ’86; Friends from First Academy of Computer Arts; My former students. We would still be in that hospital without your help.

Life must go on… But this time we are more equipped with emotional strength and love. And this I owe to people who came and helped unconditionally.

Thank you to all of you.

Donations as of July 7, 2008

I'd like to thank those who have unconditionally donated money to my account as of this date. Most of the donors wouldn't want their names posted online, some of them are even anonymous donors so I'll just put the amount and date of receipt. I shall be posting all donations in this blog. There are no words that can describe how thankful my family is for the blessings that you have shared to us. God Bless you more.

An Open Letter

This is an open letter.

My name is Dennis Abat, I am writing in behalf of my wife Neddie who is currently confined to a local hospital due to multiple injuries caused by an accident last February 13, 2008. This is not a hoax, in fact I can provide the necessary documents that will attest to my claim. She suffered from a broken left femur, a crushed cervical bones, and multiple second degree lacerations on both thighs and legs. To correct the damages, an implant has to be inserted on her left femur, and a steinmann fixator (an external brace attached to her pelvic bones in lay man's term) over her pelvic bones. She has undergone several skin grafting sessions just to prevent severe infection on her wounds. To cut the story short in order to save her life, she has undergone multiple operations administered by medical specialists (one General Surgeon, one Orthopedic Specialist, two Anesthesiologists, an OB Gynecologist, and a Plastic Surgeon) . Gladly enough they were able to save the life of my lovely wife and we are thankful for the efforts they have given.

Given the procedures done to her, we have so far shed out a total of PHPesos 565,251.09 ($ 13,458.00) in medicines and hospital expenses. Our friends and relatives were able to raise enough amount to add up to our savings that time, plus the money given by the operator of the truck. Never in my life I experienced such an amount of money on my hands and dispensing it in a matter of weeks. We do not belong to a rich family, we are just simple everyday working people striving hard to make ends meet. My wife is a public school teacher and my profession is a graphic/web designer. My wife was subjected to leave without pay, which leaves me to earn for our everyday expenses.

Our problem is this, aside from the figure i have given above, we still have a balance of PHP 171,000( $4,071.00) of hospital bills plus PHP 375,500.00 ($8,940) Prfossional Fees (see breakdown of Doctors Fee below).

in Philippine Pesos
General Surgeon - 70,000.00
Orthopedic - 100,000.00
Anesthesiologist - 105,500
OB Gyne - 55,000.00
General Medicine - 35,000.00
Plastic Surgeon - 10,000.00 (Balance from 35,000.00)

An overwhelmingly total of PHP 546,500.00 ($ 13,011.00). This amount is currently active and continues to increase as the days go by. I honestly say that I have exhausted all my resources just to pull this through and there is no way I can produce this amount in a very short span of time. Seeing my wife lying on that hospital bed has become a horror to me already. My wife is becoming increasingly depressed with the situation and I can't stand it any longer. I love her so much and i feel its unfair for her to be in such a predicament as she is so kind and full of love. Whenever I'm alone I can't help but cry and pray that this happening will soon pass.

I am sharing this to all of you because I want to appeal to your hearts. Please help me rescue my wife out of the hospital by raising enough funds to cover up for the expenses. If there is anybody who is willing to help I can be contacted through email (dennisabat@gmail.com) or through my personal phone number +63917-9034078. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. I am also offering myself to be of service to anybody who needs a web designer, perhaps we can arrange something. Please help us.
